Mental Health And Stigmas Related To It

Many of us are going through depression, anxiety or any kind of mental illness knowingly or unknowingly but we choose not to talk about it or help ourselves because fear of being judged is always in our head and instead of talking about it we choose to suffer alone and then gloomy thoughts starts to suppress us which results in excessive emotions, overthinking and anxiety.

Most of us do not take any serious action to recover from our mental illness and complaining about how bad your life is or following the trend that everyone’s depressed but keeping it hidden isn’t considered taking action. No one bothers to talk about it, some think it’s not that important which is obviously not true because if something is affecting you in any way it’s important and you must do something about it instead of being quite and hoping to recover from it out of no where without making any effort.

Time is a big healer itself only if you take the first step and make effort to heal yourself first. You have to take the first step and I’ll talk about how to take that first step in my next article. I’ll talk about stigmas related to mental health and how to break them in this one but reading it only won’t help by any means you have to learn and apply it to your life and that’s what matters. Don’t stop trying when it comes to your mental health or take a break at the right time to get started again, never overwork yourself when it comes to your mental health.

Many people connect mental illness with age which is scandalous because depression and anxiety comes with life experiences not just the number of years you’re alive. Never compare your problems with that of others. What’s not so big for you might be the end of the world for some. So, don’t ever compare your struggles with that of others.

There are people who have suffered more in life at an early age and repudiating their mental health and struggle because of their age is absolutely horrendous! Some have lost parents, some are on streets, some don’t have anything to eat and some don’t have roof over their head.

We need to break every stigma related to mental illness and talk about it to our closed ones or seek professional help if required because it’s serious. It’s what most of us are suffering from or suffer at some point in life.

But what makes me talk about it now? Well, I’m an active trained Listener on a website called 7cups since last 3 years and had over 1600 chats with people from 8 years old to 65+ years old who were going through depression, anxiety or any other mental illness and what I acknowledged was everyone had their own struggle and their own fights and they hesitated to talk about it first but when they started they had so much to speak and express.

Now, I feel I need to talk about the seriousness of it. I’ll talk about the importance of being a “good listener” and how you can be the one in another article.
